Hubei University

Hubei University is jointly developed by Hubei Provincial Government and Ministry of Education and is in the “Central and Western Colleges Fundamental Capacity Construction Project”. Hubei University was established in 1931, located in central Wuhan, covering an area of more than 2000 mu. Hubei University has 18 displinary colleges, and offers 74 undergraduate (bachelor degree) programs, 5 Doctoral degrees in first–level disciplines, 41 Doctoral degrees in second–level disciplines, 5 post-doctoral research stations, 22 Master degrees in first-level disciplines, 145 Master degrees in second-level disciplines in 16 academic faculties. Hubei University attracts 1140 professional teachers, nearly 20,000 full-time undergraduates and college students, and over 4500 Master and PhD students. Hubei University attracts approximately 200 international students at different level from over 20 countries each year. It provides Confucius Institute Scholarship and Hubei Provincial Scholarship.

Hubei University attracts more than 1140 distinguished research faculty and teaching staff. Among them, there are 700 professors and associate professors, 2 academicians, 969 doctor and master supervisors. 44 young and middle-aged experts have made outstanding contributions nationwide. The university has always emphasized on scientific research and has been actively engaged in national and regional independent innovation projects. At present, Hubei University has 2 state key laboratories, 5 provincial key laboratories, 9 provincial research bases of humanities and social sciences, 1 provincial pilot test base.

Hubei University is located in the City of Wuhan, the largest metropolis in central China. The peaceful campus enjoys convenient transportation and well-equipped infrastructure. The school buildings cover an area of 700,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment amounts to 215,000,000 RMB. The 46,051-square-meter library has a collection of 2,192,000 paper-back books, 2,654,000 electronic books, making it a comprehensive information center. The students are also free to visit campus public facilities including science and teaching buildings, academic exchange center, sports stadiums and university hospital.

With the opening policy as its guideline, Hubei University has been continuously expanding in the field of international exchange and cooperation. It has established stable relationship of exchange and cooperation with more than 100 universities and research institutes in over 30 countries and regions. Hubei University has been accepting international students since 1960s, it has now become an ideal place for international students to live and study. The International College of Hubei University is dedicated to international student enrollment, administration and management, as well as Chinese language teaching and training. It has been the destination of study for over two thousand international students from more than 40 countries.
